Instructions for the campers

Welcome to the camp of the Hollola Medieval Market 20.-22.7.2018! A Medieval encampment raises in Hollola during the medieval fair. The theme of our event is year 1418. There will be the grand tournament at the shire of Hollola. Theme of the tournament will be the “fortress of love”. Other shows during the medieval market will be “tournament of the foot”, an armoured man to man combat, a horse tournament and various displays of archery, gunnery and a trebuchet.

Travelling to Hollola

The event is situated at old Hollola. The best way to get is by car since there is no public transport available at summertime (weekends). The GPS address is Rantatie 917, 16710 Hollola.

Public transport will bring you as far as the Lahti railway and bus station Matkakeskus and after that one needs a cab or a pick-up from someone. Pick-ups need to be agreed in advance.


Arrival to the camp

When arriving to the camp please present yourself to the camp chief Maria Heikkinen. Do not start to build your tents before you get a backup of your location. If you come on Friday be sure that your car is out of the area by 17:30 pm and all the modern items are hidden. If you come on Saturday you can not drive to the camping area.

The official event opens at Friday 20.7 18:00 pm, but you can come to the camp already on Thursday 19.7 (from 16 pm) Notify in advance if you come on Thursday.


The Event closes on Sunday 21.7 at 17:00 pm. Bringing the cars into the camping area before that is prohibited. Please be sure that all modern items are hidden until the end of the event.

Camp pass

Each of the pre-registered campers gets a passport that must be kept at hand at all times, because the event area is guarded also at night time.

Opening hours

  • Friday 20.7. at 18:00-23:30.
  • Saturday 21.7. at 10:00-23:30.
  • Sunday 22.7. at 10:00-17:00.

Event security info

Event security briefing will be given to all attenders as suitable but there will be no separate garhering for this matter. A safety plan summary will be handed to all the tent elders.


During opening hours first aid personel can be found at tent marked as “INFO”. While event is closed for audience first aid kit can be found at the same tent. Every security/health incident has to be reported for event safety manager (Lauri Lännenpää). In serious security/health incidents call for help at official emergency number 112 and follow the orders. The GPS address is Rantatie 917, 16710 Hollola.


Only above ground fireplaces allowed. Fireplace has to be as authentic as possible. There has to be at least one fire extinguisher for each fireplace (will be checked that it is up to date). Fire extinguishers for emergency use are located at ticket sale booths, tent marked as “INFO”, at children’s area and at the restaurant.

Camp rules

No smoking at all times except at places clearly marked for smoking as “Tupakkapaikka”/ “smoking area”. This restriction is valid also during the feast and after opening hours of the event. Smoking at your fireplace is prohibited. This is a matter of fire security and common health.

Silence at the camp falls at 12pm. After this music and singing continues at the fireplace of the childrens area.

There shall be no cars at the event area during opening hours.

Modern items are not to be visible at the camp at any time.

Trading in the camp

Selling your own goods is allowed but they must be confirmed by Henna Pekkanen (person in charge of marketing supplies).

Alcoholic beverages

During opening hours drinking alcohol is only allowed at the restaurant and only for over 18 years olds. Even when the  event is closed for audience please drink all beverages from a period cup. No bottles or cans visible.


Re-enactors and market sales personnel are welcome to bring pets with them to the event. For the audience it is prohibited to bring dogs to the area.


Because we are living the year AD 1418 it is not suitable to have viking A-line tents at the camp. Pavillions, saxons and cones instead are suitable.


Everybody is responsible for their own meals. Warm meals can be purchased from the restaurant tent at lunch hours.There’s a grocery store “Sale” approx. 300 meters from the west gate.


There is no ATM at the site. Nearest ATM can be found about 15 km east at Salpakangas.


Firewood, straw and drinking water are provided to campers, sellers and performers. There are free toilets in the area, but no showers.

Rules for taking photos

Photographing is allowed to all re-enactors during the whole event. We kindly ask you to publish also at #hollolankeskiaika2018.

Personal hygiene

We recommend to wash yourselves at the nearby lake Vesijärvi (about 200m away from the event area).
