At the Hollola Medieval Event, we follow the principles of equality and safer spaces.
Everyone has the right to participate in the event without any discrimination based on race, colour, gender, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, health, disability, birth, or any other factor.
Everyone also has the right to feel safe at the event without fear of discrimination, harassment, or sexual, physical, or verbal misconduct.
Principles of a Safer Space:
- Respect others’ personal, physical, psychological, and social space. Respect everyone’s right to self‑determination. Do not touch anyone without asking for permission. Ask for space for yourself when needed.
- Do not mock, belittle, exclude, or embarrass anyone with your words, behaviour, or actions. Avoid judging appearances and reinforcing stereotypes. Speak respectfully about all people and groups.
- Do not make assumptions about a person based on their appearance or behaviour.
- Listen and learn. Approach new topics, people, and perspectives with an open mind. Treat every situation as an opportunity to learn and grow.
- Apologise if you have intentionally or unintentionally hurt someone.
- Intervene if you witness harassment or any behaviour that violates the safer space principles.
If you experience behaviour that violates these principles, contact the event’s harassment contact person, any representative of the Hollola Medieval Society, or a security officer. The harassment contact person can usually be found in the Hollola Medieval Society’s camp.
If you do not respect or follow these principles, you may be removed from the event. Warnings may be issued, or participants may be removed without separate notice.
