Instructions for the re-enactors

Welcome to the camp of the Hollola Medieval Market 17.-19.7.2026 at the shire of Hollola in the year 1400. A Medieval encampment will rise in Hollola next to Hollola Church and Kapatuosia hillfort during the medieval fair.

The camp is open from Wednesday 15.7. until Sunday 19.7. On Saturday evening, there will be a big feast (bring-dish party) for the whole camp.

Camp has its own Facebook group Hollolan Keskiaikaleiri.

Please complete camp registration using registration form.

Registration ends 10.7.2026

If you have any questions, please contact us: keskiaika@keskiaika.fi.

Traveling to Hollola

The event is located at Old Hollola. The best way to get there is by car since there is no public transport available in the summer. The GPS address is Rantatie 917, 16710 Hollola.

Public transport will bring you as far as the Lahti railway and bus station Matkakeskus, and from there you will need a cab or a pick-up from someone. Pick-ups need to be agreed in advance.

Arrival at the camp

When arriving at the camp, please present yourself to the camp chief, Maria Heikkinen (phone +358503824985). Do not start building your tents until you have confirmation of your location. If you come on Saturday, you can not drive to the camping area.

The official event opens on Friday 17.7. at 14:00, but you can come to the camp already on Wednesday 15.7. Please let us know in advance when you are coming.

Departure

The Event closes on Sunday 19.7. at 16:00. Bringing cars into the camping area before that is prohibited. Please be sure that all modern items are hidden until the end of the event.

Camp pass and camping payment

The camping fee is 5 euros per adult (children are camping for free). Camp fees cover expenses such as drinking water and firewood. Each pre-registered camp guest gets a passport that must be kept at hand at all times, because the event area is also guarded at night (Friday to Sunday).

Opening hours

  • Friday 17.7 14:00 – 18:00.
  • Saturday 18.7 10:00 – 18:00.
  • Sunday 19.7 10:00 – 16:00.

Security

During opening hours, first aid personnel can be found at the tent marked as “INFO”. While the event is closed for the audience, a first aid kit can be found at the same tent. Every security/health incident has to be reported to the event safety manager (Lauri Lännenpää 0403589259). In serious security/health incidents, call for help at the official emergency number 112 and follow the orders. The GPS address is Rantatie 917, 16710 Hollola.

Fireplaces

Only above-ground fireplaces are allowed. The fireplace has to be as authentic as possible. There must be at least one fire extinguisher for each fireplace (it will be checked to ensure it is up to date). Fire extinguishers for emergency use are located at ticket sale booths, the ”INFO” tent, and at the restaurant.

In case wildfire restrictions are in force, we follow the official guidelines.

Camp rules

No smoking at any time except at places clearly marked for smoking as “Tupakkapaikka” / “smoking area”. This restriction is also valid during the feast and after the opening hours of the event. Smoking at your fireplace is prohibited. This is a matter of fire security and common health.

There shall be no cars at the event area during opening hours.

Modern items are not to be visible in the camp at any time.

Please consider the other campers at night.

Trading in the camp

Selling your own goods is allowed, but they must be confirmed by Maria Heikkinen (person in charge of camp).

Refreshments

During opening hours, drinking alcohol is only allowed at the restaurant and only for people over 18 years old. Even when the event is closed to the audience, please drink all beverages from a period cup. No bottles or cans shall be visible.

Pets

Re-enactors and market sales personnel are welcome to bring their pets to the event. For the audience, bringing pets is prohibited in the area.

Tents

Because we are living in the year AD 1400, it is not suitable to have Viking A-line tents at the camp. Pavilions, Saxon tents, and cones instead are suitable.

Food

Everybody is responsible for their own meals. Warm meals can be purchased from the restaurant tent during lunch hours. There’s a grocery store “Sale” approx. 300 meters from the west gate.

ATM

There is no ATM on the site. The nearest ATM can be found about 15 km east at Salpakangas.

Facilities

Firewood, straw, and drinking water are provided to campers, sellers, and performers. There are free toilets in the area, but no showers. There is a medieval spa/bathhouse in the camp area, which you can enjoy for a small additional fee. There is also a swimming area at Lake Vesijärvi nearby (about 200m away from the event area).

Mattress straws are reserved for those who requested them when registering (in previous years, many straws went unused, so this year we are reserving them only for those who need them).

Rules for taking photos

Photography is allowed for all re-enactors throughout the event. We kindly ask you to publish photos and videos in social media under the hashtag #hollolankeskiaika2026.
