During the Hollola Medieval Event, there is plenty to see and do outside the main event area in Hollola Church Village. St. Mary’s Church of Hollola offers free events from Friday through Sunday, and guided storytelling walking tours depart from the church bell tower.
Stories from Hollola Church Village – Guided Walking Tours
This guided walking tour explores the surroundings of the medieval stone church, the Old Vicarage, and the historic municipal hall while introducing visitors to the area’s rich history and present day.
Along the way, you’ll hear stories about the giant Hollo and discover how both Carl Ludvig Engel and Elias Lönnrot are connected to Hollola Church Village.
What was the ”Birch of Love”? And could you really buy ”thread of life” from a local shop? You’ll find the answers to these and many other fascinating questions during the tour.
The tour is led by Nina Lehtovirta and takes place near the Hollola Medieval Event, but outside the actual event grounds.
Price: €10 per person. Payment is made directly to Nina Lehtovirta at the start of the tour, either in cash or via MobilePay.
No advance registration is required. Tours will take place even if only one person participates. There is no maximum group size, and a voice amplification system ensures everyone can hear the guide.
The tour is primarily intended for adults, but younger visitors interested in history and storytelling are also welcome. Children under 15 may participate free of charge when accompanied by an adult.
Tours depart from the bell tower of St. Mary’s Church of Hollola.
